What detector?
The Sunray X-8 and the SEF 8x6 are good for the explorer/sarari/quattro/Etrac series. The sunray is made in usa, but a bit more expensive.

If you want an 8 inch you might try the 8x6 S.e.f coil..The s.e.f coils seem to work really well for most folks.I have the 18x15 s.e.f myself(Love it!).I hear the sunray coil is also nice...They did a review on findsmall recently I believe.

I think I'm going to pick that up as well because I have a couple "hunted out" sites that I think that would be great on one is a 1820's horse race track that has been hunted to death but I know that stuff there is deep because for years it was left attended and the grass and weeds were high making the ground soft and wet so stuff is really deep. the good thing is it has been pounded so the trash is slim to none. how deep do you think in average soil you could pick up a dime with that whopper?
Re: Coils good and bad
The only other coil that I have is the 8x6 so I can't compare it to other small coils but I can tell you that it ROCKS!!!! Just slow way down to a snails pace and it will let you creep through even the most trashest of places!!!
